Abstract:
The new course book " Straight Forward" was introduced to undergraduate non-English specialization students in Myanmar in the Academic Year 2012-2013. This course book focuses on language skills, speaking writing, reading and listening and pronunciation. Among them, this paper emphasizes on how to promote speaking skills of non-English students at Myingyan Degree College. The aims of this paper are to study the skills of the students in speaking and to promote speaking skills in English. It was found that most of the students were weak in speaking at the beginning of the academic year. Then, it investigates how to promote the students' shortcoming in speaking skills. It is very useful to the English language Teaching in speaking skills of the first year non-English specialization students.
