Isolation of an organic compound from Marsdenia tinctoria Brown (Dan-tha-Kwa) and study on its Phytochemistry and Anti bacterial Activity

Abstract:

The present work deal with phytochemical screening of one Myanmar Indigenous Medicinal plants, Dan- tha-kwa.          The root extract responds positive result for alkaloid, flavonoid, terpenoid, steroid and polyphenol respectively. Extract of Dan-tha-kwa shows activities on three organism; Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Isolation of an unknown organic compound was done by Thin Layer and Column Chromatography. The functional groups of isolated compound could be assigned by FT-IR spectroscopic method.
